Church Social Events

Fixtures are the Annual Parochial Church Meeting at the beginning of Lent and the Harvest Supper; other events include garden parties, the parish barbecue, parish lunches, talks, games and quizzes.   The annual Open Gardens and biennial Christmas Festival are major events, normally in June and December respectively.

Some 20 fundraising events were organised in connection with the Heritage Appeal of 2008 - 2010, raising about £50,000, but perhaps the largest single event of recent years was the Queen's Golden Jubilee weekend, when the church was at the heart of village celebrations.   A ball in Pears School was a great success, and a Family Evening attracted well over 1000 people.
